Albuquerque Ranks Low for Safe Driving

Posted by Chris Templeman | Mar 03, 2014 | 0 Comments

All driving instruction classes drill students on defensive driving techniques in addition to teaching the rules of the road and safety protocols. Whenever they get behind the wheel, drivers in Albuquerque need to maintain special vigilance looking out for other drivers who might be acting in a reckless, dangerous manner.

According to a recent report by the Allstate Insurance Company, Albuquerque ranked 121 in a comparison of driving safety in 200 U.S. cities. These ratings are based on statistics for auto crashes and fatalities. Albuquerque has a worse safety record now than it did in 2012, when our city was ranked right in the middle at number 100. This change may be in line with a national trend in which the number of fatal auto accidents has risen for the first time since 2005. On average, Albuquerque drivers have an auto accident every nine years, while the national average is once every 18 years.

Allstate recommends the following tips for city driving:

  • Be alert, especially in pedestrian areas.
  • Do not speed.
  • Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
  • Pay attention to traffic signals and signs.

If you are injured in an auto accident that resulted from the carelessness or negligence of the other driver, you may have grounds to claim damages for medical bills, damaged property and lost income. In cases involving catastrophic, permanent injuries, long-term costs can be devastating, so securing adequate compensation is essential.

Our skilled personal injury attorneys are committed to helping those who are injured in an Albuquerque auto accident get fair compensation, so these victims can move on with their lives.
